A white box encases the Eraser and several other icons. It makes it impossible to use. How can I remove those? I have used Finale for years and have never encountered  this problem.   Mac-Catalina v10.15.4       Finale v25.5

I don’t know. Have you tried restarting the computer? Is this in all documents?

Can you post a screen shot?

Shift-Cmd-4, hold the mouse button down, drag across the area you want to picture, and release the mouse button. It should appear on your desktop. Just drag that into the reply window on this forum.

I have both 25 and 26 on my Catalina test machine. When I see a picture of whatever this is, I can try to duplicate it.

I hope that you can see this. White boxes are around every icon in the Simple Note Entry that is not a note.

Yes, we can see it; Have you tried recreated the preference file? (instructions are in the Help files.) Restarted?

Yes, I have tried to recreate the Preference at your request. It did not change

In that case, I would open a support ticket. Use the Submit a Request tab at the top of the page.

Why is the eraser colored blue. Did Regina colorize it in her screenshot so we could see it?

I did not color anything. I took a snapshot just as it was.

Has anyone found a solution for this issue yet?  It is also causing a problem with the flat/natural/up or down a half step/triplet/grace note tools.   I have reset the preferences, restarted the laptop.  I am running Mac OS Catalina 10.15.6.  Finale: 25.5.0.259

Is Finale v25 supported under Catalina?

I would upgrade to Finale v26 - or downgrade Mac OS.

I have the same problem with the white box around the  eraser. I have used Finale for years and this has never happened

before this week. I have Finale 25.5. my Mac OS is Monterrey.

There was never an answer posted as to what the issue or workaround might be. Finale 25 was never supported over MacOS 10.15 Catalina (see the original post) or later and is no longer supported at all.

My only recommendation is to download the 27.3 demo and see if this goes away. 27 is supported over Monterey.

Here are the published System Requirements for 25, released in 2016.

The following programs are considered Legacy Software and are no longer eligible for technical support. We will continue to provide account help and registration/authorization support for these legacy versions, provided your program is installed on a compatible operating system.
