   MacBook Pro - Catalina.

IN Finale on certain scores the soprano voice is not heard.  The bass and the chords are there.  How do I get her back

Welcome to the forum!

If I understand you correctly, your problem is document specific (= in some Finale documents only, not in some other Finale documents) - right?

What version of Finale are you using?

Also when I changed keys from an A to a D both the c and f became neutral.

Susan,

Do you mean that the C and F showed a natural sign, before showing the new key signature? You can change that behavior in Document Options > Key Signature > uncheck Cancel Outgoing Key Signature

If I understand you correctly, your document is a multi-staff document where only one of the staves (= the Soprano staff) is silent - right?

Since you are using Finale v26, take a good look in the Instrument List.

Possibly the Soprano staff is muted in the Instrument List?

Thanks so much Peter and Mike.  It turns out it was in something called Garriton. I switched it an lo and behold... sound!  Could not have done this without you.

I am using Finale 26.

I have a consistent problem that on whatever piece I am working on, and whichever instrument, The topmost line is mute on playback. In the present case, if I put notes in the second violin part (same garritan instrument) I hear them, but in the first violin part I do not hear them.

When I enter them into the first part, I do not hear them then, either.

If I enter them in the second part (and hear them entering) and move them to the first part, I do not hear them. once moved. If I enter notes into the first part (and do not hear them when I enter them) and then move them to the second part - I do hear them on playback.

It happens with flute parts, too, if that is what I have on top of the score.

Any advice or help?

It is not - at least not on Mixer or on Audio Track. Are there other mutes?

There is a Mute column in

ScoreManager > Instrument List

I have found that one, too, now. The three mutes are linked - turning one on turns the others on as well. The top line of the score is not muted anywhere. I have turned the volume to full.

Happiness! Someone suggested that I try reassigning Playback Sounds and it worked!
