Hi,

I have a question: why Finale does not explode polyphonic passages? Only notes in the same layer?

Hi Tommaso,

you could instead use the PlugIn JW Polyphony -> Split from Layers

Thanks, I was searching for a more smart solution with a key command as Finale already offer with the "2" key.

It is not so more efficient recalling every time the plugin from menu.

Anyway thanks for your reply, I hope Finale team can take in serious consideration this needs or at least give a more efficient and powerful key commands extended to plugins and every aspect of the software.

Thanks

If you are suggesting that Finale explode "chords" into separate staves whether they are in a single layer or multiple layers, that represents a significant programming challenge over what Finale currently offers.

At the same time, we might see it happen. Certainly it would be desirable both for users and for Finale as it competes with Dorico's Condensing feature (which works in the opposite direction).

If the JW Polyphony Plug-in works for you but you don't want to call it from the menu, you can just program the 2 (or any other) key to do that. Plug-in > TG Tools > Menu Shortcuts

You are right, Finale needs to be seriously improved in many aspect about arrangement writing, playback system, chords management (fonts etc...),  key commands...Dorico is marching day by day, I hope Finale team can reserve to us better and gorgeous news.
