FInale needs to have the fonts listed in the actual way that font should look when opening up the FONT WINDOW    IT is more than aggravating to have to keep on deleting and reentering to find a font that you like for examples: Titles, etc...  Unless I am missing something!

No need to “keep on deleting and reentering”.

In my own copy of Finale v26, in the Font window, the top of the window displays a sample text containing all the letters of the alphabet:

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog

The sample text is displayed in the selected font and font style.

When I go to TEXT > FONT, it simply drops down the window as yours depicts in the L column...  That is all that drops down.. there is no heading titled "font" nor a window that displays as your's does.. Is there something I can do to make my version of Finale look like what your's displays?

Text menu > Character settings

Add your program and OS to your signature. Users need to read the damn ground rules.

I swear, I’m going to answer all questions with just that line, unless it’s there.

And it's not a Mac/Windows issue: I see the style in Windows as welll.

Gary Schwartz,

This is a matter of “Finale-speak”.

In your first post you wrote:

… Finale needs to have the fonts listed in the actual way that font should look when opening up the FONT WINDOW …

Hence we thought that you were talking about the Font window.

But in your latest post you wrote:

… When I go to TEXT > FONT …

Which reveals that you mean the Font menu.

Indeed the Font menu displays the font names in a generic text font.

Pay attention to Mike Rosen’s advice about the window Character Settings.

The window Character Settings, too, displays in the selected font and font style - just like the Font window.

For more info I suggest that you use the online manual’s Search function.

Do a search for

- Font window

- Character Settings window

- Font menu

For each of these three items the manual can tell you

How to get there

and

What it does

Further on fonts ...

What fonts do you (can you) actually get, for text in a text box?  In my case, I see a number of fonts in the font list in Text/Fonts. This is a subset (maybe 2/3) of the fonts that show up in the system Fonts app; fair enough, Finale doesn't handle all fonts installed.  Though I'm not sure why not.  Further, a number of fonts appear to end up with a substitution; a further example in my case: I tried using a Britannic font - which does appear in Text/Fonts - but the result isn't the Britannic font.  Not sure what it is - Arial, maybe? not even sure how to find out - but it isn't the Britannic font.  So my question is, is there a way to find out which fonts you can _actually_ get Finale to render properly?  Is that list posted anywhere?  I gather it's a comparatively short list.

And for Mr. Mike's benefit, I'm on Windows 10 (10.0.19042.1348), Finale 2014.5.6359 (yeah, I know, it's no longer supported ... could I get a list of fonts actually supported if I upgraded to a supported version?).
