This isn't a psychic hotline. ;-)

What OS are you using; what Garritan product? Did it work before? If so, what happened when it stopped working?

Have you tried reinstalling? If so, what happened then?

I have the same issue , i upgraded and installed finale and Garritan. Finale works fine , but i can't open Garritan.Everything was fine until i upgraded; i already re-installed Garritan Two times after the upgrade . Mac 10.13.6 is what i'm using.

You're lucky, took me 12 times to get it installed. I would suggest getting their uninstaller. Doing the uninstall, restart the Mac and then try to do a fresh install. I only got the software for the saxes which are OK but unfortunately it doesn't run in my DAWs and I'm not switching DAWs just for a sax sound. I'll go back to the whimpy generic sax sound which works in my DAW and hope they (Make Music/Garritan) either get their act together and make the software work with what I consider a standard DAW or I find another sax virtual instrument. They also really need to do something with their authorization process. That cost me at least 5 installs to finally get working.

best,

Generally, installers do the same thing every time, and either always work or they always don't work. They don't install a little bit harder or better because it's the 12th time.

Finale needs some GPO / JABB files added to its Component folders. So you need to make sure that you install Garritan AFTER Finale. Otherwise, Finale may install new 'clean' component folders, without the Garritan files.

You need the soundmap in Finale's Data folder, and an xml file in the MIDI Device Annotation folder.

The only other issue is making sure that ARIA knows where the samples are stored, as this can be customized at installation.

Full instructions for manually putting the Garritan soundmaps into Finale's folders are here.

ARIA Player works as VST3, VST2 and AudioUnit plug-ins. The only format not covered is ProTools' AAX plug-in. However, there are ways of hosting VSTs in ProTools.

Ben, don’t you have JW MindReader?

No installers generally LOOK at a system and see what needs to be changed. I looked at the uninstaller after a new install failed, finding out where the issue might have been by looking at the files removed and making sure they were removed. Since I have learned after 40+ years of QA and Compliance software engineering at DARPA, ComSec, Military and Hi-Reliability IC manufacturing labs, that to do proper conflict resolution, debugging should be done piecemeal and documented. That is the process I followed which led to the multiple installs which by the way were compounded by the software "authorization" which required me to generate PNG "license keys" and re-downloading to make sure I got clean installers. Considering the last 2 installs I did were exactly the same, other than an uninstall and restart in between I guess it was magic that it finally installed. Of course there IS the issue that  JABB consistently crashes 2 mainstream DAWs And of course the money I paid for your product WAS wasted. And I replaced your product with EastWest HollyWood Brass Gold which gave me better sounds with more control. With the exception of a saxophone which is what I REALLY needed.

Mike Rosen, Community Expert. Looking at your photo I was reminded of something... Then reading your tagline I saw that you were a monk for the Barbershop Harmony Society. Aren't they folk whose sole purpose in life is to make copies. I guess you need JW MindReader to complete your tasks. Your can take your smart comment and wrap it around a barbershop pole and, oh wait, you have mindreader software so you know where my thoughts are headed and where the pole can go.

No need to respond I am cancelling my account on this site. Guess I don't rate low enough to be here.

MIKE ROSEN For some reason, Finale, well Garritan or something, lost track of things. Reinstalling both the Aria player (restart) and Aria engine (restart again) worked fine. What we need is a JW Reinstall Plugins plugin.

David,

That’s why I have a shortcut to the plugins folder (and template folder) fight on the desktop!

I'm having an awful time trying to get JABB to be recognized and work with Finale 27. I can now see JABB in Score Manager and VST Viewer, but there is no sound. Where are the updated instructions for Fin27? There is an updated version of Aria Engine, but you have to dig and dig to find it. Is the updated Engine not compatible with Fin27? Sadly, MakeMusic has failed to update instructions and files with their release of Fin27.
