I have completed a multi-instrument score. I am ready to distribute parts for rehearsal and (yes!) remote recording. I want the two flautists to know what each other is playing so I want to put the two parts on the same extracted pdf.   I want to do the same with the 1st and 2nd violins.   I guess it should be through either 'manage parts' or' extract parts' but I just can't work it out. Any 'dummy's guide' suggestions?

Got it...

Extract Parts - Manage Parts - New - Create Part Name ("Flute 1 & 2") - Click on Flute 1 and Flute 2 to include them in the new 'part' - Hit OK - Export, print or whatever.

But why couldn't Extract Parts have a shortcut tick-box so that all selected instruments were printed on the same part rather than having to go through this rigmarole?

Also, for some reason it doesn't take the instrument names with it, so you have to set them up for yourself. And it does funny things with the spacing after the first page.  Not brilliant

You are asking for a non-standard part arrangement and are surprised that there is not a one-click solution?

It's not that big a deal to create the part.

Finale has more important challenges to keep their program up-to-date and competitive.

Whoops! Sounds as if I caused offence. Not intended.

Not sure about 'non standard' though - As a violinist I have quite often played from a part that shows the first and second violins only, each on its own staff.  But yes, it is doable
