Does one need the Personal Orchestra, Jazz, Concert Band to the real instrument sounds for sound and playback on Finale, or is it installed on Finale? Because I tried playing it with the VST sound, and it plays a synthetic sound instead. If I don't need, how can I fix it to get the authentic instrument sounds

Full Finale includes a fairly wide sample of Garritan sounds drawn from the several libraries.

 

If you have selected "Play through VST," you should check you Score Manager to verify that it is using Garritan Instruments for Finale rather than SoftSynth.

Patrick,

 

Last night this forum sent me an e-mail of your latest message saying you were having difficulty choosing any sound source other that SoftSynth. So even though your message has not yet appeared here.

 

The first thing to try is to use the arrow at the right of each entry in the device column to see a pull-down list of available VST Players. If this does not show you the Garritan Player, then...

 

Sometimes the Finale installer can be misleading, making new users think they are finished after loading Finale; but in actuality (IIRC) there are three steps to the installation process:

  1. install Finale
  2. install the Garritan Aria Player
  3. install the GIfF included Garritan sounds

 

You may want to re-run the Finale installer to make sure you have encountered and run all three steps.
