Dear all,

Even though I have migrated to Dorico, I still use Finale (v27.4 on Windows). After moving to a new computer, I reinstalled both programs. Since then, Finale's playback has stopped working. The playback line moves as if everything is normal, but there is no sound.

I have also tried exporting the file as an audio file; however, even though the file is created, it contains no sound. I have already tried several troubleshooting steps, but nothing has worked so far.

Does anyone in this community have any tips or solutions?

Thank you, and I wish you all a great 2026.

Hi again.

Here is some additional information about my setup:

- Audio Driver: Under MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > Audio Setup, I have ASIO selected;

- Playback Mode: Under MIDI/Audio menu, Play Finale Through VST is checked;

- Sample Rate: Both Finale and Windows are synced at 48 kHz;

- Audio Source: Under Audio Setup > Output > Source, I am using the Steinberg Built-in ASIO Driver.

I believe the driver configuration is correct because the Test Audio button works perfectly and I can hear the test tone. However, the score remains silent during playback, and audio exports are still empty.

Update: I checked the GIFF_Samples folder, and it is practically empty. For example, the 'Steinway' folder contains subfolders like 'noped', 'releases', and 'sus', but they are all empty. There are no .audio files anywhere.

It seems the sound library was not properly installed or copied during my migration to the new computer. I will try to run the Garritan Instruments for Finale (GIFF) installer again. Is there anything else I should check to ensure the installer places the samples in the correct directory this time?

Many thanks,
