Every time I set up a new document in the Jazz font, and set an initial tempo marking, the "equals" sign shows up as "9." This isn't anything new, I'm just finally tired of having to manually fix it every time. Any ideas on how to straighten this out? Reinstalling fonts doesn't work, and I'm not going to reinstall the program (the usual suggestion) because this has happened across the last 3 machines I've owned. Is there some file somewhere that dictates the creation of the initial tempo "expression" that I can edit?

I checked the Jazz font, and unless I missed it, I don't find the = sign in it. If it is the case, a change of font will be necessary to get that symbol.

Jazz Text Font Character Set has the equal sign assigned to the ( = ) keyboard key. It also has a lot of the other characters you will need if you want to use Jazz font.

Platform? OS? Finale version?

Is there a preset tempo mark in the Tempo expressions, that you can duplicate and edit?

The expressions tool/window is where I go to edit it, but I wish the Setup Wizard would create the document without this glitch to begin with.

If this was a glitch, I'm sure it would come up more often.

Why are you using Jazz? Nevermind. Jazz is not a MM font—it's licensed from someone else. No improvements have been made in years and none will be.

Does this happen in Broadway Copyist?

If you must use Jazz, do you have the latest version installed on your system in the default location?

Besides linking to the latest Font Pack, there are instructions for finding and deleting previous versions of the Finale fonts. Systems that have had more than one version over the years can have multiple copies of the fonts from many years and this can cause many problems. All old versions should be found and moved to Recycling—I wouldn't empty yet till after the current version of the Font Pack is installed and you've rebooted.

If none of this helps, use the Submit a request link at the top of the page and get this to MM Support.
