It's nice that now there are l.v. symbols available as Articulations to add to notes. Unfortunately, they do not work automatically with chords. It would be very nice:

1. To assign a default shorcut for the symbos already in the Articulations palette

2. To have the possibility to assign these (and maybe other articulations) to all notes in a chord, placing them accordingly to notation rules (upper or lower the centre line)

Thanks

I'm wondering this exact thing—is there any way to create l.v. shapes that get applied to all notes of a chord within Maestro? (I know l.v. notes are available in Engraver, but I prefer the look of Maestro. The l.v. shape articulation works great for a single note but is not applied to all notes of a chord. Is there any sort of hack that allows l.v. shapes on each note of a chord within Maestro?

Peter,

Mac or Windows? What system version? What Finale version?

Thanks, Mike—sorry for the rookie mistake! Catalina 10.15.7, Finale 27.2. I figured out a workaround but hadn't gotten around to posting it: Create ties for the chord (tying into nowhere). Then, in the Special Tools Tool, select the Tie Tool. Use that to shorten the ties to l.v. size. Works well enough. Would rather have l.v. noteheads in Maestro, but this is fine.

Interesting, thanks! I think my workaround works really well, but good to see these other tips. Question, possibly dumb: Did Finale create the Maestro font? If so, is there a point in entering "add l.v. noteheads to the font set" as a feature request?

Maestro font requests are probably obsolete by now.

Instead, the focus is on the new SMuFL fonts, like e. g. the Finale Maestro font.

Sorry, I meant the Finale Maestro font, which also does not have l.v. noteheads. Do you think it's worth my making an l.v. notehead request with regard to Finale Maestro?

And it’s kind of hard to believe that the SMuFL Finale Maestro can’t accommodate an LV notehead, since it has a couple thousand glyphs that (probably) none of us will ever use.
