Hello. I have attached a couple of images with suggestions to improve the chord suffix editor. I'm looking at this from a jazz perspective so there are probably other genre considerations or things I overlooked.

Please review and consider this or similar updates for the editor. Thanks much!

Interesting suggestions. The table on the right, with the choice of suffixes, is close to the way Sibelius works. It should also offer a choice between the various "styles" of suffixes : - and m, min, the triangle or Maj7, etc...

The size of the display of the suffixes should be adjustable, and bigger (maybe 100%, 200%, 400%, like in the shape designer). The window, bigger also.

Nudging the suffixes with the arrows is also a must.

Thanks for sharing your ideas. I hope MakeMusic comes here to read to them.

Thanks Michel.   A pop up could be shown with the chord quality options for selection. Having Finale remember the selection from session to session would be useful as well.

oops - I missed showing half diminished on the 7th selection.

Gordon,

You won't see anything until it happens. Maybe there would be a tipoff in one of the "look what we've done" blog posts. But don't hold your breath. Anything that involved, requiring a complete rewrite of the function, certainly won't show up until the next "major" update. Finale 28, anyone?

Incidentally, that's very close to the way SmartScore handles chords, as well. The drawback, as I see it, is that there doesn't seem to be an easy way to enter chords without going to that dialogue box.

...and unfortunately, MakeMusic doesn't seem to show much interest in what is discussed here.

I figured it might be a while before it happens. I'm sure they are dealing with the global medical adventure like everyone else.

I think it's less the global medical adventure, and more the "let's make as much money as we can" adventure for the company ownership.
