I'm just doing a chord chart with the beginnings of the verses to guide the player. No melody notes. I've tried entering a couple of melody notes and then hitting "O" to hide them and attach lyrics to the hidden notes, but the lyrics disappear also. How can I get these extraneous lyrics to show up?

Michael Crutcher,

Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce your problem.

For me the lyrics do not disappear.

Can you provide exact steps to reproduce the problem?

Why not enter those lyric lines as expressions?

It looks like it is due to using the Rhythmic Notation option. Is there a workaround for this?

How are you getting that box? I'm picking Rhythmic Notation from the drop-down menu off of the Staff button.

Michael Crutcher,

Whenever you need to know about a specific dialog box in Finale (such as e. g. the Alternate Notation dialog box), use the online manual, and enter the dialog box name (= Alternate Notation) in the manual’s Search Field.

My dialog box doesn't look like that.

Here's my "Define Staff Styles" box:

Even with "Lyrics" checked, the lyrics disappear upon refresh.
