As a professional engraver here’s two things I desperately wish Finale to implement in future updates:

1) Drawing of flat-slurs by adding more adjustable points to Bézier curve - like this.

By adding more adjustable points it's possible to make slurs like this as well:

(By the way, I made this by manually combining normal slurs. It’s incredibly hard to do seamlessly.)

2) Automatically shorten ledger lines when they overlap each other, or at least ,enabling to adjust their length individually.

With all due respect I believe they are essential to make a "professional engraving" yet finale doesn't implement unfortunately. Now we all have no other ways but to do this manually and it's really time-consuming.

Good requests.

This is definitely something Finale should be able to do.

This is an area where Dorico excels: it can do both flat and multi-segment slurs.

Yes Ben, Dorico is excellent at this point. However I’m not sure if you can individually shorten ledger lines in dorico. Probably not.

Yes, you can. And there seems to be a minimum gap between ledger lines, to avoid overlapping, in any case.

Hi Ben, does that mean however tighter you make spacing the ledger lines automatically gets shortened than default to avoid overlapping? (If so that’s amazing.)

There are various settings for when ledger lines gets shortened and how much.  In a quick test I couldn't make ledger lines overlap, no matter how much I over-filled the system.

As you point out, you can always do anything in Finale: but the real question is how much time it takes you - particularly when charging by the hour.
