with 27.1, if I drag a tuplet with the Select tool, it operates at a glacial pace. No issue with using arrow keys on my keyboard, but suddenly dragging a tuplet either vertically or horizontally is a mess. The screen redraws slowly, and the movement is very delayed. I'm running a 2018 MBP with 16 GB of RAM and never ever had this issue prior to this release. Anyone else seeing this?

David, I also noted slow activity in F27. That’s another reason I’m back on 26.

Sorry to hear that. It's painful. Am finding all sorts of stuff today as I start a new work. I mean, using Finale is always an adventure since I'm generally finding something that gets in my way, but this has been pretty yucky, and it's just a piano score. Besides the tuplet issue, I already filed a bug where changing the time signature deletes a rest before a note in the left hand. The text field for the title of the piece is so large (and not scalable by the user) so that trying to select notes in the first system instead moves the title. Can't wait to find more fun stuff today...

Hello everybody,

I'm brand new to F27 (operating on macOS 12) and I'm experiencing the same issue with the extremely slow and imprecise horizontal drag of the tuplet. It only happens in page view, scroll view is smooth as before.

It's quite infortunate, because it's a tool I use constantly. Happy to hear solutions that don't involve buying a new version.

Well, the most obvious solution, after you have submitted a ticket, is to work in scroll view. Many users work exclusively in scroll view, and only switch to page view for layout after note entry is complete.

If you have an older version that worked well, you might want to go back to that until they fix a number of issues with F27.

Before upgrading to Monterey, I was experiencing this problem in Finale 27.1 only. After the upgrade to Monterey 12.1, both Finale 26 and 27 have the same issue when trying to drag the tuplet in page view. Has anyone solved this?

My workaround is to click on it with the Selection tool, wait a sec for it to take effect then use the arrow keys to nudge it where I want it. But otherwise it does not work properly. I have reported the bug, it's been replicated and hopefully there will be an update with a fix in the near future.

I am also hoping the imminent release and hype about another software program's update will light a fire and some of these bugs, including many longstanding ones, might be addressed. And hopefully (finally) some compelling enhancements (a fix for duplicated accidentals in layers that don't consolidate is on my wish list). I mean, I have tons of plugins (so many now that it's confusing to find the one plugin that does what I need to have done in Finale) so I can get past some of these things, but it would be great to see some really compelling, innovative new features. Sharing (seriously?) and an initial adoption of SMuFL aren't exactly mindboggling.

Sorry if my frustration is coming out, but after spending the holidays going back to many old scores, sprucing them up and fixing some minor things, the inconsistencies in UX and lack of certain layout features, along with a long-antiquated Shape Designer and MIDI Tool that are not helpful, really got under my skin. The tuplet bug mentioned in this thread is just one of the annoyances. Finale is a great notation program, don't get me wrong. But some of the things that were acceptable in the 90's (just try to work with the MIDI tool or the Shape Designer and you'll be magically transported back to 1995) aren't in 2022. The fact that I have to hit 100%-400% in a dropdown rather than use a pinch out gesture to enlarge a shape I'm working with is no longer ideal. The one-measure-at-a-time and largely ineffectual MIDI tool is another trip to an older era.

I share your frustrations David. I really hope they address this issue soon.
