I'm experiencing the same issue. Whole note rests don't seem to keep 4 beats when time signature is converted. Instead they become a 3/4 whole note rest and the subsequent measures on that staff don't change. See images below attached with highlighted measure not changing (outside of the unrelated dotted quarter update).

27.2 fixed a few issues in Monterey. Is that what you are using or are you still on 27.1?

I'm on 27.1. I'll run an update now and retest.

Upgraded to latest but does not resolve the issue.

My guess is that the Rehearsal Mark B’s rest measure (4/4) is an empty measure.

In Other Words: the whole rest is a Default Whole Rest (= empty rest, no duration), not a Real Whole Rest (= 4/4 duration).

Before you change the time signature, change the Default Whole Rest to a Real Whole Rest.

You can use the plug-in:

Plug-ins menu > Note, Beam, and Rest Editing > Change to Real Whole Rests

Note that there is also a plug-in for the reverse change.

Do your words “with no success” mean that the rest was not changed to a Real Whole Rest (= remained a Default Whole Rest)?

The rest measure must be selected when you run the plug-in.

Or do your words mean that the change to a Real Whole Rest was a success - but the following time signature change was no success?

The latter is how I define success. That said I haven’t/don’t know how to confirm the former.

i’ll add that I did also use the simple rest entry tool to overwrite
the default whole rest with the whole rest from the tool thinking that might work but still ran into the time signature problem.

I can reproduce the bug.

It seems that you can avoid the bug by using two real half rests instead of one real whole rest.

You should report the bug to the folks at MakeMusic.
