I am on iMac, Big Sur 11.6.1, Finale 27.1.0

First time I see this:

In PDF from score measure looks like this - which is correct:

In the Finale file which produced the PDF it looks like that:

So, I understand that for some reason Finale shows me the notes it actually plays back to make the trill. Never seen this in decades of Finale work. I didn't see these greyed out notes when I was working on the file - but after making a recording they were there. These notes also pop up now in the parts. They are not on a specific layer. I can copy/paste the measure to another file and the notes are still there. 

One thing I see is that these notes are on V2 and set to invisible. Getting rid of them is a pain..... At least so far they haven't re-appeared.

Possible explanation: This Finale file was made a few versions back. I used to put the small, bracketed trill notes on V2. But they had been deleted before recording.

It is not clear what you mean by your words ‘rid of them’ ?

- getting rid of them in the print? (so that they do not print)

- getting rid of them in the playback? (so that you do not hear them in playback)

- getting rid of them in the view on the computer screen while viewing the Finale document?

View menu > Show > Hidden Notes and Rests

Getting rid = deleting them. It's next to impossible to edit the measure like that. Plus, I didn't put these notes in. 

I know how to delete, hide, prevent from playing back. My question is how did they get in there in the first place?

In my (limited) experience the notes will not get there if you just use Human Playback.

 

On The Other Hand, the notes will get added if you

- set Human Playback to None,

and

- instead use

MIDI Tool.

MIDI Tool menu > Apply Human Playback…

Peter K, I "suddenly" had the same problem. It turns out I had accidentally ticked the box for "Show... Hidden Notes and Rests" in View Menu. Could this be what happened to you?

Hi Mike. Correct, I know that sometimes searching for a solution on the internet can yield these old posts which end up being able to help folks even now--I know they've helped me! :-)
