Currently, the only way to export audio files from Finale in the mp3 format it to use the MIDI Playback option. When you do this, the Garritan Instruments cannot be used. In addition (according to Finale's own documentation) the "Export to mp3" sometimes changes instrument assignments. For example, in a recent export of a Flute + Piano composition, the Flute part was changed to a piano sound in the mp3 export file. Following instructions on the web, I was able to easily convert an AIFF file exported from Finale in the "Audio Unit Playback" mode into an mp3 file within Apple Music. However, you can't get the file out of Apple music (for attachment to an e-mail, for example) because of Apple's Digital Rights Management (DRM) requirements, even though I am the author of the file and should be able to control my own DRM. There is specialized software for stripping DRM from Apple Music files, but why should I have to buy and use this simply to get an mp3 compression of my own AIFF file?

Therefore, my request is that Finale provide within its software the option to export AIFF files from the "Audio Unit Playback" with compression into an mp3 file. This would require a third "drop-down" option in the "Export Audio File" menu, i.e., "AIFF with mp3 compression" when Audio Unit playback is selected.

I believe Audacity (free!) will allow you to convert your AIFF to MP3. No Apple involved.
