Finale 26.x, Windows 10

Hi all,
Funny thing is happening. When playing back, at the end of a 169 bar piece the music stops but the timer keeps going.
In the playback window, I set it to stop at the end of piece or at the beginning of bar 170. Same thing happens.
The end time should be about 7:50
When I Export to .wav, it is 7:50.

The file is based on a very old file that I have opened with Finale 26, in case that means anything.
I opened the old file and Exported it into mxl format, then opened that in Finale 26.

Thank you!
:-)

I would still contact Support explaining everything you've done up till now—they need to know that anyway.

Vanessa says it was something simple but she doesn't recall what. Support might just know the answer.

Hi Paul,

Regarding you comment, "...the first thing they tell me to do is throw away all my preferences and default files and ruin my entire work flow (and that never solves whatever issue I'm having anyway),"

In future, you do not have to trash you preferences and default files; you can simply move them to a newly created folder--which is the equivalent of deleting them, and if that does not work, move them back.

Thanks, for the suggestion, Vanessa. I've actually done that with default files, but it didn't occur to me that it would work with preferences, too. :-)

Just in case either of you two is interested in a follow up:
I did contact support. The first thing they had me do was make a clean install of Finale (removing all preferences before doing so). After doing that, the problem was fixed. As a test, I put my old preference files back into the computer's library and when I did that the problem returned. So the problem did involve my preferences.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions, you two!

Hello. Did you ever solve this problem?

I've been having this irritating issue for quite some time. I've experienced it with different versions of Finale and on different files. In fact, I seem to have the problem with ALL music that I play through Finale. I'm surprised there aren't more comments about this problem out there.

I'm currently running Finale 27.3 on a 2020 intel iMac with OS 13.5.1.

Hi Paul,

I'm sorry, but I cannot remember what I did, but I seem to recall it was something simple.

I will continue to probe my memory.

I'm surprised there aren't more comments about this problem out there.

The most likely reason is that most users do not experience this. I never have in over 30 years. Have you sent this to Support? If so, what did they say? If not, use the Submit a request link at the top of the page.

Does this happen with files you create from scratch or imported files? If imported files, it’s possibly a hierarchy issue.

Well, Vanessa, your reply seems to suggest that there is a solution! I'll ponder possibilities...
Thanks for your reply.

Mike, with regard to your questions: As far as I can tell, this happens to me with ALL files old and new. I even removed my default file and started a new score so Finale would start with a completely blank slate, but it still happened.

I thought about contacting support, but then I remembered how every time I contact them the first thing they tell me to do is throw away all my preferences and default files and ruin my entire work flow (and that never solves whatever issue I'm having anyway), so I decided to see if anybody else found a solution first. If I really can't find any solutions I may still contact them. Thanks for your reply!

Likewise, thanks for the follow-up. This helps others.

Sure wish we knew which-preference became corrupted but the important thing is that it is resolved.

Whenever you see unknown issues you should trash preference as the least disruptive action first off. Quite often that will fix it.
