Hi guys.

Looks like the Garritan Personal Orchestra 5 Aria engine does not want to cooperate.
When i launch Aria Player (or trying ti launch the VST) i have this alert "Garritan Aria Player. Cannot find engine file, please re-install".

After 3 re install i give up.

Any idea ?

Thanks a lot

I've reinstalled a newer version of the Aria Player https://store.makemusic.com/Downloads/Default.aspx and looks like now it wants to start. But now there's an instrument location problem. For most of the sounds i have an "aria player error" No sound asset loaded.... But i checked, the sounds are at the right location.

Any idea ?

I had to install everything manually when I bought GPO. You may have to do the same.

I just got my refurbished MBP 14" M1Pro and I'm having the exact same problem. 3 install attempts with no luck. Keep getting the message; "Cannot find engine file, please re-install". I've always had some sort of issues regarding Finale/MakeMusic/Garritan, but after getting the "Ultimate collection" and then upgrading GPO to version 5 I should be able to use the Plague Aria engine/Player and Sforzando! Any tips are appreciated. :)

J'ai le message: "2 subsequent MD5 checks on 050 banjo D4 (03).data provided the same bad result. Installed Sample is corrupted. Please reinstall it".

J'extrais bien les fichiers avec Winzip dans le répertoire choisi Garritan27.

Ensuite c'est: "JABB one or more files are corrupted! Please reinstall."

After updating to Finale27, my documents no longer playback.

"Cannot find engine file, please re-install" - I've reinstalled but still nothing.

What do I do?

Bonjour,

Tout est résolu chez moi. MakeMusic m'a aidé.

Having this problem... Again. This time I decided to upgrade to Band-in-a-Box for Mac 2024. It now uses Sforzando for "Hi-Q instruments". After that not only could BIAB not access Sforzando (and hence the Aria engine), but the standalone Aria Player and AU plugins for Aria Player and Sforzando in Logic Pro 10/11 won't load.

The same "Cannot find engine file, please re-install" message comes up for the standalone and plugin versions of Aria Player and Sforzando. Any Ideas. I use Sforzando A LOT with Apple Logic Pro, Make Music Finale, MuseScore and hopefully PG Music BIAB, and these issues are driving me CRAZY!

Have you tried running it under Rosetta?

Perhaps if that works you can upgrade your Aria or Sforzando player to the latest version which might run native on a new Mac OS.

Band in a Box only runs over Rosetta on an Apple Silicon Mac. Until BIAB becomes AS Native, I’m using its bundled sounds (I have the Audiophile version) or the DAW plug-in in Digital Performer. In short, I’m avoiding this mess. You may want to contact PG Music Support on this.

@MIKE HALLORAN. Yep, PG Music never stated that BIAB 2024 for Mac was still Intel only! 😡 I only figured it out AFTER purchase and installation. Plus it ‘broke’ access to Aria Player and Sforzando. I deleted every file that I could find from Plogue (SfZ) or MakeMusic (Aria) and did a fresh install of both. They both opened, but now neither recognize ANY of my Garritan libraries. MakeMusic support says the only way to go forward is to delete ALL of the support files for each individual library and download the latest installer for each library (with all the samples) to do a ‘clean install’. FFS! Finale apparently isn’t the only thing going belly-up at MakeMusic. 🙄 Why do I keep trying with this company?

It generally works fine over AS but it is not Native and requires Rosetta II. We who frequent the User forums have been complaining about this since 2020.

If you haven't been following these and posting, you need to create a different login and password than your PGM sales and support account.

You can, at least with a PC (Windows), put the Garritan files in the correct folders manually and it will work. I don't know the proper folders for a Mac but MikeH probably does.

Although plug-ins have specified folders in the macOS, this does not apply to Virtual Instruments, same as Windows.

VI installers default to Users/Shared but that only works if you have enough room on your System drive. Even with 8TB internal storage, I don’t have enough room for everything. Installers should let you select the drive and directory to install your libraries. As Ernie mentions, you can also install them manually (many install no other way)—when your App cannot find them, you need to point it to the directory—again, same as Windows.

Installing the VIs manually does not install or update the Aria Player (in Applications folder). I suspect that this is the problem.

I have all of the Garritan libraries but haven’t tried them in BIAB as I posted earlier. Except for the 32 bit GPO 4 , all work with Finale 27, Logic and Digital Performer.

I’m guessing but I suspect that the reason is that 27 is the reason why everything works for me. Both 26, then 27 updated the Aria Player. Removing Garritan, Aria and supporting files then downloading and running the latest Garritan installers per MM’s suggestion should make you current.

That’s what I’m thinking as well. 👍
