Does anyone know if v27 fixed accidental spacing issues like the one below?

Also, I wish there was a way to avoid the collision of chords without causing the exaggerated spacing of notes, as between the G and Bb.

Why not download the demo and try it for yourself?

Sigh. Just did. Seems like not having basic elements collide should be a priority... Looks exactly the same in v27. On the bright side I don't need to pay for an upgrade!

No problem in Finale 26.3.1.

Have you applied Music Spacing (4) and Update Layout ?

The space before the Bb is indeed abnormal.

Wow, I'm using 26.3.1 as well, and yes, applied music spacing and update layout. On Mac OS 12, if that matters. Your eighth notes are spaced better as well. Do you think some box is unchecked somewhere in options or incorrect value somewhere?

I did find if I apply time signature spacing to that measure it works well. I've always used note spacing and don't understand why that would allow collisions.

With time signature spacing:

Pressing 4 and then ⌘U doesn't work (Finale 27.4.1 and standard Fibonacci spacing)

The sloppy spacing of accidentals in different layers is unacceptable for a professional notation software.

The issue exists for a very long time. MakeMusic please fix it, Dorico and Sibelius can do it much better.

The priority of correct accidental spacing must precede the width of the multimeasure rests (here created with JW Space Empty Rests)

Thank you for your response. All related checkboxes are checked. But the layers are supposed to be spaced correctly also with manual spacing.

Of course I know the "hack" to add invisible rests in other layers but this is not a solution.

Thanks again, this is checked, too. No offense, I know all these settings as I'm working with Finale for 30 years ;)

Please watch Jason Loffredo's video Avoid collisions of… Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5m377P_TZB0

The issue is described at 11:50

Stephan I mostly, 99.9% of the time, use Perfect Layout Silver which takes care of 95% of all collisions. Of course not knowing your level of expertise with Finale I simply pointed out the inbred items to make sure are checked. I see that you are well knowledgeable in the workings of the software. Good luck with your project, my friend.

Yeah, I considered Perfect Layout but I'd love that MakeMusic fixed this quite basic problem.

OT: I see that you are the president of a concert band. I'm a conductor of a concert band here in Switzerland

Oh, that's great. I also pay bass trombone in several groups including the Desoto Brass Band which is a European style brass band. We had an exchange student from Switzerland when my boys were in high school.
