Hello everyone.  I was wondering if anyone know how to get Finale to generate random music.  I want to practice my sight reading using random notes, rests, rhythms, chords, etc, so I don't end up memorizing the music like I have a habit of doing. I've looked online everywhere but don't see anything about it.

I do not think Finale is designed for that, but somewhere out there must be someone who has or could connect a limited random number generator or two to a pitch or rhythmic routine.

You might Google: sight reading practice pdf

Lots of hits.

You can always practice transposition as a form of sight reading. Take a piece of music and play it as is, then with a clarinet transposition, an alto sax transposition, trombone bass clef and viola clef.
