Bought Finale 26 a couple of years ago, but haven't used it because I was in between trying to salvage my old 2012 laptop and bite the bullet with a new one.  Finally HAD to buy a new one.  Back then there were problems with OS.

Now my question is:  Should I just keep 26 and download and install Rosetta (I bought the M1 chip laptop).  Or, should I spend more bucks and get 27?  I'm running Big Sur, but plan to upgrade to Monterey this week-end.  Also, I write mostly choral music and piano solo music.  I'm a retired music teacher, so I don't have much need for orchestration upgrades.

Somebody?  Please?

Finale 26 requires Rosetta 2 to function on an M1. Finale 27.2 runs Native on an M1 but, if you are running any non-Native plugins or VIs (including NotePerformer), you will need it to run it in R2 until those libraries have been updated by their developers.

Monterey solves a few issues with Finale that popped up in Big Sur.

I’m quite happy with Finale 27.2 in Monterey 12.3 on my Intel Mac and my M1 MacBook Air. Because NotePerformer is not yet Native, I’m running it in Rosetta 2 on the M1.

OK.  One says stay with 26 and one gives good words for 27.  Anyone else with an opinion?

Also, Mike Rosen-- why would you stay with 26?  Are there not enough new advantages to 27 do you think?

Thanks, again!

Many thanks!  I'm not a frequent flyer here in this group; I appreciate the guidance.  ~Pat

Because none of the new features offer any advantages to my workflow, with the added feature of confusion about a completely new font paradigm. Like you, I work primarily with not overly complicated scores.

Having said that, I have purchased 27, even though I’m not using it at present.
