Hi all,

I often create new expressions for Dynamics -- variations such as mf-f, or p-mf, etc. I use these for playback purposes, with gradations of key velocity.

When I use the Expression Designer box with Maestro font selected, I can use f, or Shift-f, etc to get the desired symbol to appear. In the Finale User Manual there is a page with the symbols and their associated keystrokes--for Maestro...

However, I am unable to do the same thing with Finale Maestro.

Perhaps it doesn't make a difference, but since my default music font is the new Finale Maestro, I would like to be consistent.

BTW--Is Finale Maestro the default font? On one of the "Font" pages in the manual there is a seeming contradiction.

Thank you!
:-)

1) Finale Maestro is the SMuFL version of the older “legacy” font Maestro.

To view all the many (thousands!) characters in a SMuFL font, use the (new and improved) dialog box Symbol Selection.

… Is Finale Maestro the default font? …

2) Fonts are document specific, not program specific.

In a Finale document you can set the so called Default Music Font (look at the bottom of the Document menu).

Thank you, Peter

When using the old Maestro, I can use keystrokes to enter characters/symbols, such as "shift-f" or simply "f" etc, and the desired character/symbol will appear.

I had not seen the "Symbol Selection" option before because it did not dawn on me to click on "Text" in the menu bar of the Expression Designer box. From there, I see what I've been looking for.

Again, thank you!
