I am using an Akai MPK261 attached directly to my iMac M1 running Monteray 12.3.1 and Finale 27.2.0.142, and even though I can hear all of the notes I play on the keyboard, the Speed Entry tool only types a D note. It picks up on the rhythm, but doesn't respect the pitch. I am using CoreMIDI and playing back to SmartMusic SoftSynth. Finale Channel 1-16 is set to "MPK261 Port A." I can test the keyboard in the Apple MIDI Studio and see the input from the keyboard on Port A and I can hear the notes. I would appreciate any tips on what I might be doing wrong.

Speedy > Speedy Options > Use MIDI device for input < this should have a checkmark in te little box

Thank you for your response. I thought of the same thing after I posted and tried that. That option is indeed already checked. Any other ideas?

Not really, sorry. When I uncheck that option it does create exactly the problem you describe (exept in my case it enters B's not D's ...), but I am using Windows. Must be related to your Mac or the instrument setup.
