I have invested in new equipment, but run's into a deadlock!
I can'not get my M-Audio 61MK III to work on my pc/finale
The keyboard is installed the usual way -by company software from Ableton.
Still no sound.
In Finale - Device setup - Midi setup. Auto-select is selected and Midi In is showing Keystation 61 MK 3 As is Midi out.

Still no reaction of notes or tones

What do I do wrong

Leo,

Am I correct that you are connecting the Kbd and Computer via USB?

Am I correct that the computer is the new equipment?

Does the M-Audio have a way to set which channel it is sending to Finale? If so, check that it is (at least initially) on Omni or All.

Define "no reaction" to notes or tones. Are you inputting via Simple Entry or Speedy (which requires you to press a key for note duration while holding down a pitch key, as you probably already know)?

What instrument have you chosen in Score manager? Are the notes you are playing within its range (if this is a Garritan sound)?

When all else fails, restart the computer just to check.

Perhaps one of our Finale gurus will have more suggestions. Perhaps you will think of more info you can share that may help to pin this down.

If the rest of Finale works on your vintage machine, I cannot say why the USB/MIDI connection would not. (Frankly, I'm amazed that a pre-2012 version of Finale does work on a new machine running Windows 11.) But that said, I have run out of thoughts how to solve your problem. You say Finale recognizes your MIDI device, and if you have MIDI In and Out, then you must be using the MIDI plug on the M-Audio, which would preclude MIDI plugs from being reversed, and your MIDI cable must still be functioning properly.

I'll cross my fingers and hope someone else can help solve your dilemma short of telling you to upgrade Finale, which is certainly a viable option if you decide to do it. Can you get the MIDI Kbd to function with any other programs?

I fail to explain myself -I'm sorry!
It is not my version of Finale that is old!, I am. as is my use of finale (since 2000)! except for the use of a Midi keyboard
It's Finale version 27.2.0.144 and the keyboard is a keystation 61 MK 3 from M-Audio.

1)  make sure you plug the keyboard in BEFORE you open Finale.
2)  have you checked at the Speedy menu - Use MIDI Device for Input?
3)  have you checked at MIDI/Audio > Device Setup > MIDI Thru?

I use Finale 27.2 on WIN10Pro with an M-Audio Keystation 32 (or 61) and this works just fine.

It did'nt work. Perhaps its because there is no Speedy Meny?

You don't see this when you click (and hold) at the Speedy item on the Menu bar on top?

Kbd->Cpu =Connected via USB and both new whereas finale is of "old age" I've used it since 2000.
It is only the connection that fails, Finale is functioning normally.:-(
