I have a Finale 25.5.0.259 on my MAC OS Mojave, Version 10.14.6.  I have not used my Finale for several years.  I now am returning to a Musical I worked on back then.  When I stopped, I seem to have gotten hung up on one chorus and I didn't find a way out.  I think I inputted some lyrics by typing them into a box and then moved them into the music.  They are all screwed up, so I obviously didn't do it correctly.

Now all I want to do is delete those lyrics and start again by inputting the words one by one.  But, I haven't figured out how to delete all of them.  What is the procedure?  I can't seem to highlight and delete the lyrics.   It is probably easy, but so far I can't clear them.  The music looks fine and I really don't want to have to re-enter all the music.  Thanks for any suggestions.

You can delete them from their respective lyric windows. Clear Selected Items > Lyrics will remove them from the score, but they will still be in the lyrics windows.

erasing the lyrics in the lyrics window seems not completely erase it. if the lyrics were originally entered using click assignment of cloning it from another staff, the "links" from the word position in the lyrics window to the notes on the staves still remain after erasing the lyrics. So if you start typing new text after erasing the old tekst the words of the words of the new text appear on the same notes as the words with the same "position" of the original text.

To get rid of these "links" e.g. to start again with a really blank sheet of lyrics  you need to select the bars containing the notes with the original text and then choose "clear selected items" from the edit menu and ticking ONLY the lyrics boxin.

You could argue that this is rather counter intuitive way that is (very) hard to find (it is not even mentoned in the user manual!!). A much better way would be that deleting text from the lyrics window deletes everything including links to notes of the erased text while keeping the non-erased words of the text linked to their ORIGINAL notes in the score.

After this it is relatively easy to redo the click assignment or cloning of the new text.
