I did search for this.

I am using Finale 25 (after a long pause/break). OS is Windows 11.

I direct midi from finale to Cantable via a software midi port.

I tried to do a series of controller changes (CC74 but it doesn't matter) and have this affect the playback. I set up the binding (as it is called in Cantabile (this just means a CC is mapped to a vst parameter)).

I was and remain mystified by the dialog for Execute Shape in  Finale (expression > playback > excute shape).

It is not at all clear what the starting value of the CC will be or how to set it. Same for the final / ending value.

I still have a little program which I first bought back in the 90s and which amazingly still works on Windows 11.  It does this particular job much more easily and it actually works.

Sorry looks like this is Cantabile not finale. (Still don't understand the dialog though) I just exported to midi and then opened in a DAW and there is the series of controllers.

I have never understood Finale's executable shapes well enough to get them to work predictably. When Human Playback came along, much of this area was unnecessary; so I rely on HP now entirely.

I am not using finale in the way most do, I think.

The DAW I have does have a notation editor but it's not good - mainly because of the speed at which notes can be entered. I was hoping to write initially in Finale piping the midi to a vst host (Cantabile) then finish / polish in the DAW.

I do still need reasonable control of midi however (and not just tempo and dynamics).

I can't seem to control / predict the length of the series of CCs that Finale will create. Or steepness of the slope.

The help page on this is either quite badly written or I am not as smart as I thought.

Also it's not very usable because I have to go into one dialog after another (5 I think).

The midi editing window is also appalling - hardly worth having at all.
