Hello,

I just bought Finale v.27 for college classes in music composition. Was a Sibelius user for years.

I have a piece in 4/4 time with a one beat anacrusis. It's a Bach Chorale. At the end repeat it shows as a dotted half note for three beats. The fourth beat is a quarter rest. How do I erase the rest (4th beat) while keeping it in 4/4 time while the music shows a three beat note?

Also, after the repeat barline there is a one beat measure and it says 1/4 for the signature. How do I erase the 1/4 at the start of the measure?

Is there a way to attach scores here in the forum? How?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forum!

… 4/4 time with a one beat anacrusis …

For the remaining part of your question:

Use the Mid Measure Repeats plug-in, then study what the plug-in has done.

A plug-in only does what you can do yourself, manually.

Only, the plug-in does it faster.

In Speedy entry, hit the H key with the cursor on the rest. It will hide it or any note you select.

Peter's way, of changing the time signature and hiding it for situations like that, is more correct than just hiding the rest. This will keep playback correct if there are any repeats involved, as well as correcting the note spacing. Ernest's way is fine for a quickie, but you should learn the right way. How did Sibelius handle a situation like this?
