More recently, importing music xml into Finale 2009 seems to fail very early on in the process. I guess it might be to do with the upfront declarations in the xml. Can anyone shed any light on this...

Using the "Smart Lyric Extensions" option is also my preferred way, and one can always click the handle on each extension thereafter to change its length, if necessary.
