Jeff, Are you doing a Space Music (CMD-4) first? In my experience, the Space Music is what adjusts the crunches; Update Layout is more of an “under the radar” thing.

What is her computer operating system? Have you tried recreating the preference file?

Log in to your Finale account. Choose My Account > My Software. You can download the software from there.
If I remember correctly, you can do it in the Instrument List. What changes are you seeing? I can’t imagine what would be changing the notes.
Download it, and see if there is any difference.
