The only way I can think of doing this is by adding a single barline as an expression to an existing single barline.

IMO, it's more efficient to simply enter the suffix ID manually. The fact that you've spent days on this method should tell you that your time is more valuable than spending it trying to teach FInale.

Here's the preference menu (Mac). You can see that I have automatic music spacing unchecked. Put a checkmark here on your computer to see if this is what you're looking for.

Paul, As Michel said in his post, you can create a staff style for this specific transposition and apply to just the selected measures.

The answer depends on your operating system. I use a Mac, so we use "option-space" to create a hard space. It's been a while since I use Windows, but I think the keystroke might be "Alt 0160".
