Yes, I get the same. Files with EPS crash on print. PDF images imported onto the page will appear bitmapped when that page is printed or exported.

I think Marcato (in the GOS Strings) uses Note Velocity for dynamics, rather than CC1, because it's a fixed length sample. So, if you're still sending CC1, then you might see a drop in volume.
