both Garritan Instruments for Finale, and Garritan Personal Orchestra installed

Only MIDI playback actually sounds;  either Garritan flavor =  no sound at all.  Multiple different Finale files same result.

Also, cursor now moves at a different tempo (faster) than the playback sound

Sometimes, but not always,  MIDI/Audio / Play Finale Through Audio Units and MIDI/Audio / Play Finale Through MIDI is greyed out.

Device Setup/Audio Setup/Test Audio Output = the long tone sounds successfully in the computer speakers.

When Playback Controls "off" button is clicked, playback often continues for several seconds before stopping, usuallywith some sounds continuing.  Have to go to MIDI/Audio/All Notes Off to get silence.

Any help appreciated!

A couple of things to check:

  1. Make sure your Finale audio driver and your computer sound system are both set to the same sample rate: 44.1K or 48K
  2. Sometimes when I load a new Finale version, my audio driver changes from DirectSound to ASIO, which causes me problems. Check to make sure you are still using the driver you were before.

Did you download 27.3 from your User Account? If not, do so and run both Installers which also updates the Aria Player to the latest build. During installation, you should see a dialog pop-up requesting Access to your Microphone (if you have one). You must check Yes.

 

Reboot when done. See if you still have a problem. If so, you may have to uninstall any old versions first. I can look that up if necessary.
