I'm working FINALE V25 on windows 10. Sometimes I use alternative chords with brackets but if I must to transport the score that chord won't change.

Thanks

I realize English is not everyone's first language here. I do not understand what "transport the score" means. Do you mean "transpose"?

If you transpose only part of a score (using transpose rather than changing the key signature) the chords do not transpose with it. You would need to use the Utilities > Change > Chords... option to transpose the chords.

Hope that is helpful.

Looks like the "alternative chords" were not put in with the Chord tool. Are these text expressions?

No, no they aren't text expressions. I've played  the chords by MIDI IMPUT and after that   I've  put the  brackets in the chord edition window.

Thanks

Thanks for a detailed explanation. What you appear to have done was create a Chord Suffix not an actual chord. You can see by the font differences in your examples and by you saying you created a parenthetical chord within the Chord tool. When you do this a dialog box appears saying "Could not find suffix (Dm). Would you like to add it to the chord suffix library?" When you click "OK" it is now a chord suffix similar to a "m" or "m7" suffix which do not change during transpositions. Also, if you double click the handle of those "chords" you will go into the Chord Definition dialog box and notice under Show that "Root" is not checked. During a transposition, only the Root and Alternative Bass change. Since this chord is a suffix, in this dialog box you will only see Suffix checked because that's what you created.

Finale is not aware that a parens at the beginning should be ignored. It looks at the first character in the dialog box to determine if it can be considered a Root of a chord. A parens is not the root of any chord.

If you want it to change you can create a normal "Dm" as a chord and either create a suffix of just the parens to fit the space and apply that suffix to it or just attached an expression and eyeball it.

Hope that helps.
