If you simply want to hide 4 measures, apply the Staff Style "Force Hide Staff - Cutaway" to those 4 measures in the Percussion Staff. If it's something else, please explain in detail.

Using Finale 2011:

I want 4 measures of a perc. staff to align with the 8 meas. of wind parts on that same score page.  Perc. part is 4 bars all other parts are 8 bars

Not concerned about playback or other issues this might cause.  just want to be able to view the score in this manner

I am not sure, exactly what you need.

Perhaps we need more info from you.

To make one percussion staff 8/4 measure aligned with two 4/4 measures in the other staves:

1) Make the “real” time signature 4/4.

2) For the percussion staff, in the Staff Attributes, in the pane Independent Elements, select “Time Signature”.

3) For all the measures in the percussion staff, set the “real” time signature to 4/4, but set the “display” time signature to 8/8.

4) Use a custom staff style to hide every other barline in the percussion staff.
