I know how to move dots to correct minor visual alignment issues, but in some handbell music, there are stacked chords in a dotted rhythm where there are more dots than will fit in the spaces of the staff. This results in dots hanging well below the staff and not actually "attached" to the note it belongs to. Maybe it's just me, but I find it visually distracting to have dots dangling where they don't belong.(I have noticed a similar phenomenon in a few of the choral pieces that I've sung, where the alto note's dot is below the actual note - obviously, I don't stop singing, but it does catch my eye as being technically incorrect).
Please advise if there is a reasonable solution to this. I have thought about trying layers, but it still won't eliminate the basic fact that there are more notes in the chord than places in the staff for the corresponding dots.
