Dear Sirs,

For years, the only way I knew how to prepare individual parts from a score is to “extract” parts.  For some reason, Finale 25 is not as user friendly in extracting as earlier versions are.  For some reason, I always have one of the staves left off every time I try to extract parts from a score.  I have been told by many to use “Linked Parts” instead.  OK, but how?  Once I get to the “linked parts window”, then what?  I need to be able to edit and then print out each part when done.  Finale “published help” gets you to the window and assumes you know what to do.   It is probably so simple it just passes over me, but if someone could “break it down” step by step, I’d appreciate it.  Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Rich Moon

You can not avoid linked parts via extracting parts since extracted parts are created from linked parts.

If an extracted part is missing, then the corresponding linked part has not been generated.

To generate linked parts, use the dialog box Manage Parts (Document menu > Manage Parts…).

You can also delete linked parts there.

The dialog box can be expanded, to show more options.

When you have generated a linked part, you can edit the part layout:

Document menu > Edit Part > …
