I am transcribing Gregorian chant, and am having trouble with changing the width of a single measure.
The final measure of the chant is on it's own staff line, which I want to keep. However, when I change its width in the Measure Attributes dialogue box, the measure stays the same width, even though the width value is changed in the Attributes box.
How do I fix this??
My operating system is Windows 10, and I am using Finale 2014.5
Since this final measure is in a system of its own, you must alter the system’s margins.
Changing the measure width does not make any difference (as you have found out).
To edit system margins:
Page Layout Tool.
Click the final system to select it.
Page Layout menu > Systems > Edit Margins…
In the dialog box Edit System Margins you can edit the margins precisely by typing number values.
If precision is not an issue, you can avoid the dialog box, and just drag the system margins manually.
