for some reason predefined metatools don't work... (articulation fermata, click F)

are they embedded somewhere?

TIA

The articulation metatools are document specific (not program specific).

If your document was created from a template without articulation metatools, then you need to program the metatools.

To program an articulation metatool (e. g. F for fermata):

Open the document, and switch to the Articulation Tool.

Hold down Shift, and hit the letter F key.

Finale will display the Articulation Selection dialog.

Double-click the fermata.

From now on, in the Articulation Selection, Finale will display the letter F in the upper right corner of the fermata selection field.

You can transfer metatools from any document to another with the TGTools transfer plugin. This is not a free plugin, although I believe it can be run in demo mode to try it out.

You might try copying your music into a new document that has the meta-tools working.

I think I will try the first method

Copying music could lead to many differences in layout, etc...
