I am considering a new printer and whether I should purchase a color or monochrome type. Can Finale, (2014 version), print, for example, titles of pieces, staff lines, notes, or other graphic additions to my compositions, in color? I use a Mac with OS X 10.8. Thank you.

I don't know why not. Try a couple of tests by printing to PDF. If the colors show there, they should show on paper.

Jon,

Please add the program and version you are using to your signature, in the user control panel. That way, you won't have to remember to add it in the body of your post. Also, for security reasons, we suggest you remove your email address.

I guess, my chorus uses Finale for all their music.  The lady that posts music to our website, is PDF. but not in color. Guess there isn't a way to change it.

Not easily, on the PDF. It can be done with something like Illustrator, but it’s pretty involved.

If she has a color printer, she should have a setting to “Print Display Colors” or something similar. Then, they should show up on the PDF. I don’t know if that option appears on a B&W printer. Is she the one who creates the Finale file? Is she using Mac or Windows? What is her printer? (It might be helpful for her to join the forum, and we can discuss it.)

If you want to chat about it offline, my email is encoded in my signature, below.

In a word no Finale doesn't print color. I have asked, for years, a real text editor that could do color and other text stuff, but so far has fallen on deaf ears at MM.

If MM still likes, wants, to call itself an education program it seems a real text editor would be a no brainer.

It depends what one wants. This was originally printed as a PDF.

Finale 2012 - Looking to make different colors for "baritone" with my music.

Been singing baritone for 40+ years with same group.  I can read music but listening as it is playing on-line.

Would this work? Normally, BHS/SAI charts are done with tenor and bari in layer one (black) and lead/bass in layer two (red.)

I really appreciate your help.  I will see if I can do this.
