Windows 10 64 bit Finale 25.4.1.152

Just tore through an old hand-written arrangement of a Jack Mack & the Heart Attack song. On playback, none of the short articulations are playing. You can't play R & B without varying attacks and note lengths! (or funk for that matter!)

It's only on THIS arrangement (started AFTER the update)!

Hello Timothy,

That is definitely not normal behavior within Finale. If you would like, I can open a support ticket for you to get that file and try and get this working for you.

Make sure Human Playback (HP) is set for this file.

Human Playback is ON.

In brass (and a lot of other wind) instrument articulation, a marcato written in a jazz, soul or blues would be the equivalent of a staccato and an accent combined for a string player. I'm disappointed I have to work so hard for a basic brass/wind concept when it should be built into the nature of the instrument sound.

I have a parallel frustration with the bass trombone sound, which is the "orchestral bass trombone." It sounds like a player who plays every note so hard that he can't articulate in tempo. Also, I should be able to expand the range of an instrument. Not everyone can play as low as I can, but my range is shown in the attached photo. True, most bass trombonists can only play down to maybe Eb or D, but I want to be able to write for ME.
