How do you insert a text symbol that you use frequently without having to go each time through the process Text > Inserts > Symbol > scroll through 4000+ symbols to find the one you need?

Are you using Windows or Mac OS?

A solution that works on both platforms:

You could save the text symbol in a text document.

Then, when you need the symbol, open the text document, select the text symbol, copy it to the Clipboard, switch to the Finale document, and paste the symbol from the Clipboard.

Thanks, but that's still a lot of steps for a bullet point! I'm using Mac OS X 10.12.6.

How would you like it to work? (Not being a smartass; what you want might give us a lead on how to suggest you do it.)

You might look into PopChar. One of its features is that is saves used glyphs in a special area, and you can even designate them as “favorites.”

… How to get degree symbol on mac? …

Assuming that you are using Finale:

Text Tool.

Double-click to create a text block.

Text menu > Inserts > Symbol…

In the Symbol Selection, go to text character #176.

If you want it in chord, like A°, you can type the A and then the o (letter o.) For a half diminished, option-o.

Apologies, but I can't find my old questions and answers.  Mike, you recommend PopChar for symbols but someone else found the symbols list on Windows 11 adequate and rapidly accessible.  Please could someone remind me how you open it?  I have been using the symbols in lyrics text up to now, but don't seem to be able to get them onto different voices in a madrigal reliably.

It should be in Text > Insert > Symbols If I misunderstand, I’m sorry. Does Windows 11 have a font viewer?

Margaret,

What symbols are you trying to insert? Would you be open to a Zoom, and we can try to figure it out?
