Hello. I am in 6/8 with a dotted quarter tied to three eighths. I want to indicate that the dotted quarter and the first of the three eighths are cued notes (i.e. 75% the size of the existing notation) but the last two eighths are normal size (and where the cued notes end). I cannot seem to make the first eighth of the three a 75% size note without the other two in the pattern also changing size. All help appreciated!

Reber,

It looks to me like the only way to do that is to break the beam between the first eighth, and the following two. Which kind of makes sense: how would you draw the beam, with one note smaller than the others?

The other option, which keeps the beam intact, is to reduce the size of the noteHEAD to 75%

Thanks Mike! Reducing the notehead size only makes perfect sense and will achieve what I would like to see. Thanks so much for a solution!

Reber,

Beside MIke's excellent suggestion, you might consider flipping the stem direction of the cues and adding full size rests in layer 2. The publisher I work for also adds the word "Play" when the real notes start.
