Hello all,
I am looking into ways of changing the tuning of notes on the CFX Concert Grand library in realtime, but struggling with it. I have previously used Scala files to set up a temperament, which works brilliantly, however I would like to access different tunings quickly, so hope to be able to tune notes on the fly. I am using SuperCollider to send MIDI to CFX, and in an ideal world, I'd like to be able to tune notes instantly before they are played as necessary.
My question is: is this possible? And if so, does anyone have any experience or pointers?
I have been playing with SysEx a little bit, and have seen it in action. I understand it in theory, but am not sure how to approach it with the ARIA Engine and CFX. I wonder if there's a way to apply the MIDI Tuning Spec here?
To give a bit of further context, I previously used Max to open about eight different instances of CFX and load a different temperament on each, switching between them as necessary. But my computer (understandably) struggled to keep up with this.
If anyone is able to give me further info, I'd be most grateful! I'm definitely not an expert with MIDI, but am able to get down into the weeds to a certain extent. It would just be good to have a helping hand!
Thanks,
Danny
