Hello
I've forgotten how to make expressions (such as dynamics etc.) visible only on the first staff in a group of staves (such as a sax section). For example if one wants to place a dynamic marking for the section, the marking appears only on the staff of the first saxophone although it will appear in each part. It makes the score less cluttered. Can anyone help with that. I'm running Finale 26.3 on Mac OS Monterey.
Thanks in advance,
Vince Benedetti

Welcome to the forum!

1) To copy the dynamic from the top staff to the staff below, hold down Option, and hit the DownArrow key (or, in symbols: ⌥↓).

When you have the dynamic copied to all the staves, you can - for each staff - choose to show the dynamic in the part only.

This is done in the dialog box Expression Assignment:

When the staff handle is selected, hit Shift-Return (⇧⏎).

2) As a faster solution, consider a new, custom expression category of the {Score List} type.

You can create the category by duplicating an existing category.

I would duplicate the category Tempo Alterations.

In the Score List (I would create a new Score List!) you can specify display for Score and Parts.
