I am using a Mac running Catalina. My Ableton 10 & 11 cannot see or import MIDI files created in Finale 26. If the MIDI files are created in Finale 2014 (created on another Mac running High Sierra), no problem, Ableton on Catalina sees them just fine and imports than as expected. What's up?

I don’t know Ableton 10 & 11 but I’m going to suspect it’s a 32 bit vs 64 bit issue. I’m not certain since Encore, a 32 bit app, can see MIDI files exported from Finale 26..

Hi Mike,

Thanks for answering back. No, it's not a 32 bit vs 64 bit issue (everything I mention is running at 64), but I found a workaround. Silly, but it works.

MIDI created in Finale 26 does not show up in the Ableton browser, but if I simply drag the MIDI file from my desktop into Ableton it works (it sets up individual tracks in Format 1, etc.). So, until a future update in either software comes along that makes it so Finale MIDI can be seen and imported from the Ableton browser, this is not as elegant, but works just as well in the end.

Thanks and best! - Patrick
