How to change that alphanotes are written in concert pitch instead of the instrument's (here a Bb clarinet) note name?

It is very confusing for a beginner that, say, the keyhole C has a B in it, and I would think notenames are for beginners.

(You are right; a clarinet has no keyhole, but it has many other holes :-)

Best regards,
Mathias

Mathias Foldager,

What is the problem you are trying to solve?

I mean, why are you asking for Alphanotes displaying the Concert Pitch?

I have never met a clarinet beginner who preferred to read Concert Pitch note names.

The better we understand, the better we can help.

Nor have I. It is not the way our Essential Elements method book teaches either. I would think that would add a more complicated aspect to the basic learning of a beginner. They are playing the note that is written they just sound a different pitch. Perhaps we are not understanding what the OP wants. Maybe the Lyrics tool or Expressions would do what he wants.

Exactly. That's why I wonder why Finale does this.

I'm asking how to change it so that Finale writes the clarinet's note names, not the concert pitch note names?

Best regards,
Mathias

Do you know how to remove the letters again (same document; other use)?

Can’t you do the Alphanotes as a staff style? Then you could have it (or not) wherever you wanted..

And that would be easier than clicking AlphaNotes and/or clicking Clear Shapes?

Not necessarily, just another option. I guess it would depend on the situation.
