I just downloaded the trial version and opened a just finished concert band file.  It does not playback the same GPO percussion sounds and when I go to input, it did not save the map from the previous file in 2014.5.  Or the sounds from the 2014.5 on playback.  Is there an easy way to save the map from the previous file?  This is a big thing with my work, as I use templates set up with 2014.5.

To be specific, it is the Basic Orch. Percussion GPO Finale Edition in Settings.

Have you tried File > Save Library... and then choosing only "Percussion Layouts" then loading that library into 25? I haven't tried going from .5 to 25 yet, but it should work.

CJ; I've tried many times and can't get it to work.  If I save into Library, the window is empty, I add it and then can't find it when I go to v25.

You might have to walk me through it.  I have sent the file to MakeMusic and they are trying to figure it out.

If you still need some help after hearing back from MM, please let me know!

Try copying the files from your "C:\ProgramData\MakeMusic\Finale 2014.5\MIDI Device Annotation" folder to "C:\ProgramData\MakeMusic\Finale\MIDI Device Annotation".  I done this with my percussion maps and it worked.  Good luck.

CJ, if you are still up for it, I'd like to try.  Haven't heard from MM yet.

Sure Bill, I'm going to see if we can set up a private messaging or email communication so we don't fill up the comments, is that okay?

It's odd.  When I open the 2014.5 document in v25, all the percussion sounds are correct except the snare drum, which just plays a timpani sound.  The bass drum is on the same staff and it plays the correct sound.  Along with the wrong snare sound, if I go to re-input the sound it comes out below the staff.  If I then go to edit the Basic Percussion GPO and click "new" where it says the map is "missing", I am then able to re-input the notes, using my keyboard for input, and they play back fine.  But none of the existing notes playback correctly, yet are shown to be where the snare drum noteheads are located.  Then the peculiar thing is that my next staff, Perc. 2, plays back correctly; susp. cym, crash cymbals etc. and are placed on the staff correctly without doing a thing and this staff uses the same map as perc. 1.  I used a separate channel for this staff as well.

Great!  That’s fine.  I just added a more in-depth explanation of what I’ve been able to do on my own, which may alter what you might be thinking.  But, yes, if we can figure how to connect without putting all of our information on here.

Thank you for posting that, Bill. I just sent a Facebook message to whom I'm pretty sure is you. Unfortunately, for now, this may be the best way to communicate. Mind checking your facebook messages?
