So classic eighth note beams have been removed in finale 25.  First off, why?  And does that now mean that I can no longer beam 4 eighths together in 4/4? If so, workaround?

Not certain on the first part of your question.

The second part is easy.

4 eighths are beamed together in 4/4 time out of the box.

I don't have v25, so don't know for sure, but it's my guess that you can still beam eighths either by 2s or by 4s. Just make that selection in the beaming options.
