Windows 10 - Finale 25

Trying to get CFX loaded into two banks for left and right pianos.  MIDI VST can do that but ScoreManager won't cooperate and crashes Finale. A dialog pops up wanting to send log files but the attempt to do so fails. Where are the log files and where can I send them?

I'm having similar issues. I'm running Finale 25.5 on Windows 10, and lately the software crashes any time I open Score Manager. I'm running Garritan Jabb3, and two instances of Kontakt. Two, because in Finale, the drumset triggers every time a note is played in any other instrument. So, drums get a separate Kontakt module. Opening Score Manager causes a crash. Then a crash report pops up but doesn't fully load before Finale restarts. Perhaps the crash is because I'm stressing Finale too much. But then I remember how much this software cost. And then I see that this was a problem 2 years ago and hasn't been fixed.

My Finale crashes after selecting Score Manager twice in one session.  EVERY TIME!  What is going on! :(

I posted 7 months ago, and my Finale version was brand new at the time. My laptop at the time was competitively equipped. Here I am today on a brand new laptop, with a high speed gaming processor and 16GB of RAM, still experiencing that same issue.

I spent two months with Finale "experts" last year with the same issue and no solution.  At the time, this was happening with OLDER Finale files I was still working on. Maybe this is your issue?

Nope. New file with setup wizard, not opened from an old version or anything.

Oh... OK  I see - .  Sorry about that, Christopher.  I swear, it's gotta be something! Damn!

Just as a check, have you tried restarting? Deleting the prefs? Setting up a new user account, with only Finale loaded on it?

Hello, Mike:  Which poster's issue are you responding to?  I ask since your suggestions are intriguing, if not confusing me. :)    Thank you.

I have exactly the same issue.

Systematic crash of Finale 26 when opening Score manager. I actually manged to see that I could only open it once, and before the VST are fully loaded (i use most of the time EW Hollywood libraries).

Once the VST are loaded, then I better keep the score manger open. If i close it and try to open it again, the Finale crashes.

Also, finale randomly crashes when I use different VSTs for one instrument in different layers...that prevents me to actually work with different layers effectively as I never know if the sysztem will crash or not...

and i don't believe the hardware to be the problem.

- AMD Ryzen 2950X 16 core

- 64 go RAM

- Windows 10

ARNAUD -  :(  What a shame.  I am beginning to think that Finale does not like 3rd-Party VSTs.... I have the SAME problem with EW Symphonic Orchestra and KONTAKT factory libraries.  Let's keep praying that the Finale team finds a solution.

Enrique, I was making the suggestions for everyone. These are various ways to help isolate - if not fix - many problems.

This happens to me all the time too, and this is one of the few relevant results when you Google it, so if anyone else finds this (the bug is still in Finale 27):

  1. Load the file.
  2. Go to VST Banks & Effects. Set all banks to 'Bypass'.
  3. Save the file, close it, and reopen it. Yes, the VSTs will still load.
  4. Open the score manager and make your changes.
  5. Go back and uncheck the 'Bypass' boxes.
